Learn the lingo:

Finding a French course in France

They say the best way to learn anything is to immerse yourself completely. If you want to be a tennis master in no time, enroll in an intensive summer course where all you'll do is play tennis; and if you want to become a gourmet Thai chef, move to Thailand for a few months and live and breathe the culture and cuisine.

The same principle applies to all walks of life, including learning a language. While dedicating a couple hours at a local night school may teach you the basics of a language, you are unlikely to gain a conversational level of speaking, let alone fluency.

If you really want to take your French language skills to the next level, you need to seek out a French course in France. Living in the heart of a native-speaking French country, your immersion in French from the moment you wake to the moment you sleep will help you learn more quickly than if you were to study the language in London or Manchester.

Of course, you don't just want to enroll in any French language school. Price will be one factor, but you also want to have a good time, meaning you will want to search for the best school France has to offer: one that is not only within your price range, but that meets your location requirements as well. If you love big cities, you'll get bored living in a small, regional village. And if you love peace and quiet than you may find Paris or Marseilles are not the best options for you. If you're not enjoying yourself, then you won't learn the language nearly as well as you would otherwise. So go on, immerse yourself and make sure you have the time of your life!
